Wormsley Cricket Ground, lovingly created by Sir Paul Getty on the family?s Estate in Buckinghamshire, is to dedicate this year?s England Women?s One-Day International to Breast Cancer Campaign, a charity which funds innovative research into breast cancer.
The cricket ground?s inaugural Ladies Day, which takes place on Thursday 7th July 2011, is set to embrace all things pink to raise money for breast cancer research.
Supporters on the day will be encouraged to get into the fundraising sprit by wearing a pink item of clothing to the event, and ros? wine and pink champagne will flow throughout the day. Guests will also be able to indulge in a luxury shopping village created especially for the day.
On the field, the England women?s cricket team will play in the finals of this year?s NatWest Quadrangular ODI series, which will see them face either Australia, New Zealand or India. The other match will be played nearby at Aston Rowant Cricket Club.
Tim Munton, the former Warwickshire and England bowler, is Managing Director of BIG Group Consultancy, who manage the cricket events at Wormsley, and he said: ?We?re thrilled that this year?s Ladies Day will be raising money towards breast cancer research. Breast cancer is a cause that?s close to so many staff and supporters? hearts here at Wormsley cricket ground and we want to encourage as many people as possible to come along to support and help the charity continue its vital work.??
Breast Cancer Campaign is a medical research charity which sponsors innovative world-class research to understand how breast cancer develops, leading to improved diagnosis, treatment, prevention and cure. The money raised at the Ladies Day will go towards continuing this vital research.
