W.Va. officials to discuss prescription drug abuse | News Life

Federal and state officials are set to examine recommendations from a February meeting that dealt with prescription drug abuse in West Virginia.

U.S. Legal professional Booth Goodwin and acting Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin are scheduled to unveil the report Thursday in Charleston and Princeton.

The recommendations will outline methods in the locations of education and learning, monitoring, disposal, enforcement and early intervention and remedy.

Goodwin has explained about 350 individuals died from prescription drug-related overdoses in West Virginia in 2009.

Tomblin went close to the state before this summertime to talk about the difficulty with law enforcement, regional officials and local community-centered groups.

Drug abuse differs from region to region. Tomblin says prescription drugs and methamphetamines are a issue in southern West Virginia, even though heroin and cocaine are issues in the Eastern Panhandle and Huntington.
